How long are sessions?
Standard therapy sessions are 45 minutes of direct work with your child. After the session, your speech pathologist uses the remaining 15 minutes for note writing, planning, and communication with parents or other professionals. This time is essential for safe, high-quality care. Sessions are billed at a 1-hour rate.
What exactly am I billed for?
Each “session” fee covers:
45 minutes of face-to-face (or telehealth) therapy
up to 15 minutes of clinical note writing, goal planning and resource preparation
brief handover and discussion with parents or carers at the start or end of the session
Longer reports, meetings and school visits are billed separately, and we will always discuss this with you first.
How often will my child need sessions?
It depends on your child’s needs, goals, energy and your family’s schedule. Many children attend weekly or fortnightly. Some work best in short blocks of therapy with breaks in between. We will discuss a plan with you after the assessment.
Do you charge travel fees?
Yes. As a mobile service, we charge travel fees for home, school and community visits. Travel charges are in line with the NDIS price guide and are explained clearly before you agree to services.
Where do you see children?
We visit children at home, kindy, school or in the community on Brisbane’s southside. We need permission from the school or centre and may need to factor in travel time. We will confirm practical details and any additional costs before starting.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth is available for many children, especially for language, AAC and parent coaching. We will discuss whether telehealth is a good fit for your child.
Do you have a waitlist?
Yes. We do not always have immediate availability. When you contact us, we will let you know if we can add your child to the waitlist and give an estimate of current wait times.
What funding do you accept?
We work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants and privately paying families. If you have a Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan, you may be able to claim a partial rebate for a limited number of sessions.
Do parents or carers need to attend?
For younger children, we strongly prefer parents or carers to be present so we can coach you and share strategies. For older children, we may work directly with the child and check in with you before or after sessions.
If it’s a home visit, can I leave you with my child?
No. A parent or responsible adult must always be present during home visits. We are not able to provide therapy or remain with a child if there is no adult on site.
What is your cancellation policy?
We have a cancellation policy with fees for late cancellations or missed sessions. The details are outlined in our Service Agreement and discussed with you before therapy begins.
